What Is a Black Eye Soft Shackle?
The Black Eye Soft Shackle was designed by George4x4 and named by Michael Myers.
The Black Eye design adds a protective sleeve around the eye of the soft shackle.
This eye is the section that regularly passes through recovery points, holes and other connection points before the soft shackle is closed. On a traditional soft shackle, repeated use can cause the fibres around this area to spread and open up over time.
The Black Eye sleeve helps keep these fibres together while also providing additional protection to the rope.
This helps the eye maintain its shape, reduces fibre separation and can extend the service life of the soft shackle.
Traditional Eye
On a traditional soft shackle, the fibres around the eye are exposed. After repeated use through connection points, the fibres can gradually spread apart.

Black Eye

The protective sleeve holds the fibres together around the eye and provides additional protection in one of the most frequently used areas of the soft shackle.
It is a simple addition, but one designed to improve durability and keep the soft shackle in better condition for longer.
As with all soft shackles, always inspect the rope and connection point before use and avoid sharp edges or damaged surfaces.
